Shadowalkers by Donna Sundblade is the second book in the Dragon’s Oath series. Admittedly, I did not read the first book. However, I am happy to know that despite having missed out on this series from the start and the issue I will be fixing in the future, I could follow the story of Shadowalkers without any problems. This is due to the well-written introduction and the spectacular use of fantasy tropes that Sundblade gives us in this novel.  

Now I know what you are thinking: fantasy trope? Dragons? This has been done a billion times by plenty of authors. It sure has. But Donna Sundblade’s take on the magical creatures is unique, making the large-scale beasts stand out. The magic system created for this book series also stands out as something original compared to many of the high fantasy novels that have come before.
