The Stricken by Morgan Shamy is an exciting fantasy book traversing two worlds. Despite being only seventeen, Clara, the main character, manages to deal with a slew of emotional and physical issues, from trying to keep her mother safe to being attacked. Clara is an interesting character who gives the reader someone they honestly want to root for. At the same time, some of her actions seem questionable, like a love interest she displays from the start of the book; it’s easy to let it pass when you remember her age. I know I made some strange choices as a teenager.

All in all, The Stricken by Morgan Shamy is a great read that should be enjoyed.
